There is a small army of folks who will cheer when we tell them that Sweet Scoops has decided to go back to the original recipe for our Ginger Frozen Yogurt. Back in July we tried to correct an on-going production glitch by changing the type of ginger we have always used with one that was lightly coated with sugar crystals. We asked new and old fans to let us know what they thought. The response was overwhelmingly to return to the original recipe.
And that is exactly what we have done! The crew at Sweet Scoops is in total agreement that our original Ginger is not to be tampered with. We are committed to overcoming the production glitches with due diligence and we’ve added more ginger so that every pint will have plenty of ginger pieces. Now, every pint will have at least 30 grams of ginger and some even more. So when you hit the ginger jackpot, know it’s your lucky day!
We recently oversaw a flawless run of our Ginger. The NEW OLD Ginger will begin to appear on store shelves within the next couple weeks. They will be stamped with the best by date of 7Feb2015 on the bottom.
Thank you one and all for your support and continued loyalty. We truly appreciate each and every one of you.

The first day back to school can be a challenge – all those new faces and places! So we have an ice cream-inspired idea to smooth the way! Surprise your kids at lunch by packing a pouch of Astronaut (freeze-dried) Ice Cream as a conversation starter. All the kids at the lunch table will want to taste this phenomenon and those first day jitters will melt away. Enjoy the real-deal after dinner with kid favorites Mint Chocolate Chip or Madagascar Vanilla as the kids tell you about the day’s events. Find Astronaut Ice Cream on Amazon.com or at your local camping store.
When I saw on the editorial calendar that we were due to acknowledge Julia Child’s birthday, I jumped at the chance to do the honors. Normally I take a back seat role at Sweet Scoops but not when it comes to Julia (we’re on a first-named basis – you know – after all these years)!
Julia and I go way back! I landed on one of her early TV shows accidentally on my local PBS station. I was transfixed instantly. She was the first to demonstrate truly great cooking and food knowledge, and in the process you could tell she had a blast teaching us all how to cook. There was a national GASP when she appeared on the scene for so many of us were seeking something better than TV dinners, overcooked vegetables or canned food.
The word “groupie” wasn’t around back then, but I could have qualified. I would prefer to now be called a “foodie” since I have learned from Julia the standards of excellence and no compromise when it comes to life’s pleasures. These are the values Sweet Scoops believe in so you can see where my passion comes from. I have all her cookbooks, cooked countless of her recipes (not so successfully), watched all her shows (and a lot of repeats), visited the re-creation of her Cambridge, MA, kitchen at the Smithsonian in Washington, and actually chatted with her at a function at the Fancy Food Show in NYC.
Julia lived to the wonderful age of 92, and today would have been her 101st birthday. Her influence is still strong. She is a true legend. Happy Birthday, Julia!

Espresso + Coffee Sweet Scoops = Frozen Bliss
In celebration of National Coffee Milkshake Day, we whipped up this creamy concoction.
1 1/2 cups Sweet Scoops Coffee Frozen Yogurt
1 cup Chilled Espresso
1/2 cup 2% Milk
3-4 Ice Cubes
Combine all ingredients through ice cubes in blender. Blend. Pour into chilled glasses. Top with whipped cream. Make it a Mocha? Give the glass a swirl of chocolate sauce before pouring latte into glass.
Since our earlier post on July 2nd, we have received a number of responses and reactions to our changing the recipe for our Ginger Frozen Yogurt. Some of you love it. Some do not. Because we value your opinions, we need more of your feedback. After trying the new Ginger (code on bottom: 23Nov2014), please email your thoughts to us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call us at 603.642.4111.
In the meantime, we will not produce any more of the new Ginger so that we can evaluate your overall reaction. This may create a brief shortage of Ginger. Our goal is open and honest communication with our fans. Over the past 10 years, you have helped put Sweet Scoops on the map by making us known for our Ginger. We are enormously grateful. Being a small family company, we can be nimble and responsive to the majority of our customers’ opinions. Our mission is to continue to satisfy and delight you. Please let us know what you think.

We saw the need to improve our Ginger Frozen Yogurt after numerous requests from customers for more ginger. We knew the overall taste of our Ginger was spot on – the sublime combination of our Madagascar Vanilla with spicy ginger – but folks craved more of it. We searched for a solution that would be satisfactory to all our Ginger fans. Luckily, our supplier of crystalized ginger (Australian Buderim) offered a more intense ginger with the traditional dusting of sugar. This dusting kept the ginger from sticking together in test batches – an intermittent problem we had experienced. It also helped with a more even ginger distribution in the finished product. So now our customers can savor the full richness of our Madagascar Vanilla enhanced by the snappy bite of the new ginger for an overall sensation of pure joy.
You can identify which pints are made with the new Ginger by looking for the best by date of 23Nov2014 on the bottom of the pint container. We would be very grateful if – the next time you are buying our Ginger – you search out the above sell by date, try our improved flavor, and email us your reactions to it at email@example.com or give us a call at 603-642-4111. We will use your feedback to guide us moving forward.
With much appreciation,
